Canvas

From rplace.live wiki

A canvas is a board which allows anyone to place pixels, anywhere. People are allowed to make pixel art, to destroy pixel art, and anything possible using the 32 different colors of pixels.

Canvas 1

First

Canvas 1 was the original canvas of the website. Then, it took the form of the final 2000x2000 r/place canvas. Users were allowed to interact by placing pixels at a lower cooldown.

Second

Canvas 1 was reset for the first time in a year on 1 April, 2023. It shrunk to 1000x1000.

Latest

Canvas 1 was reset by popular vote on 4 July 2023. It runs to this day.

Canvas 2

First

Canvas 2 was a complimentary canvas. It was created to celebrate the 2000 member milestone in the Discord server, achieved on July 7, 2022. Initially, the canvas was a 500x500 canvas, though it expanded to become a tall 500x750 canvas on 17 August 2022, and to a once again square 750x750 canvas on 4 December 2022.

Second

Canvas 2 was booted up again on 1 April, 2023. It lasted until 1 June 2023, when server problems killed and corrupted the canvas.

Joke/Test Canvases

Turkey

The Turkey Canvas was the April Fools Day joke for 2023. It shut down along with the second Canvas 2 on 1 June 2023.

69x420 "Secret" Canvas

Zekiahepic established a short-lived Secret Canvas on 17 August 2022. The canvas was shut down shortly after.

4096 Colors

The 4096-Color Canvas was a joke canvas. It has only ever been seen in a single development screenshot by ZekiahEpic.

Self-hosted Canvases

Self-hosting (was/is) a feature which allowed you to set up an r/place server on a personal computer. Others could connect to it by pressing "p" and typing in the URL to the server and board to load. Nobody actively utilized this feature, albeit some groups of players had plans to set up self-hosted canvases as a form of refuge from the main canvases.
